How to reach Siena
Siena is situated in the heart of Tuscany, in the centre of Italy, and it can be reached by plane, train or bus.

Access by plane
Airport "Amerigo Vespucci" (FLR) - Firenze (68 km) –tramway T2 connects Florence airport to the central train station Santa Maria Novella. Buses for Siena leave from “autostazione”, located in Via Santa Caterina da Siena (right in front of the train station).
Airport "Galileo Galilei" (PSA) - Pisa (150 km) - From Pisa airport you can catch the PisaMover shuttle bus to the main Pisa train station. It leaves every 10 minutes from the airport and the trip takes 8 minutes.
Airport “Leonardo da Vinci” (Fiumicino, FCO) - Roma (250 km) - Both buses and trains to Siena leave from Roma Tiburtina. To travel from the Rome airport to Roma Tiburtina, you will also have to take a train – the platform is inside the airport.

Access by train
Siena is connected to Chiusi railway station (for Rome) and Empoli (for Florence and Pisa).
Leaving from Pisa, you will have to change in Empoli and the whole trip lasts about 1 hour and 50 minutes.
Siena railway station is about 2 km from the town centre. There is an escalator connecting the train station with the “Antiporto” area, situated few hundred meters from “Porta Camollia”, about 20min walk from “Piazza del Campo”. Otherwise, you can take a taxi (there is a taxi rank right outside the station) or the bus.

Access by bus
There are bus connections with several northern and southern cities; the most frequent are for Florence (at-bus.it/), Rome and Bologna (itabus.it/, flixbus.it/). Coming from Florence, bus trip is slightly shorter than train trip, and the bus station Piazza Gramsci/Viale Tozzi is inside the city walls of Siena. For buses from Rome or Bologna, the bus stop is at the train station. |
How to reach the conference venue
The conference will take place in Presidio Mattioli (via Pier Andrea Mattioli, 10, Siena), close to Porta Tufi, and it can be reached from the city center Walking up and down for about 20 minutes. The following bus lines have routes that pass near Via Pier Andrea Mattioli: S3, S54, 590, 616, 640, 645. The nearest bus stations are named “Mattioli” (2 min. walk) and “Porta Tufi” (3 min. walk).
Local transport
The town centre is largely pedestrianized. The bus company provides public minibus service, called “pollicino”, in the centre. Several parking areas are located by the town gates.
